CashFish is an AI financial operating system for small businesses.
It connects to email (Gmail, Outlook, IMAP) and to business tools, extracts invoices and receipts with AI, and turns approved documents into cash health, runway and revenue-leakage insights next to a CRM pipeline. The product runs on a React and TypeScript front end with a Supabase backend (172 edge functions and 423 migrations at the time of the audit) and Stripe subscriptions across four plans: Starter, Growth, Scale and Teams. Alpha Expansion's role covered the pre-launch audit, backend hardening, product fixes and the marketing website.
CashFish had a strong product but a real pre-launch risk list: overdue and date logic that contradicted itself across views, AI extraction that failed silently, duplicate income records, slow sign-in and page loads, and row-level security on a finance database that had never been verified at code level.
Alpha Expansion ran an external and authenticated audit, then a code-level audit with the repository, fixed root causes in the Supabase backend, shipped product fixes across the app, and designed and built the new cashfish.io marketing site in Framer with a CMS-driven page system, pricing and integrations hub.
The challenge, in depth
The public site was clean, but the authenticated app told a different story. Overdue and due-date logic disagreed between the dashboard, receivables and payables. Counts differed between views (invoices, documents to review, vendors). AI extraction produced $0 amounts and raw email headers as vendor names without surfacing errors. Income was duplicated in some sync paths. Sign-in took 9 to 20 seconds and some pages far longer. Most importantly for a finance product, row-level security in the database had never been verified from the code, and a later hardening migration written by a code generator introduced a policy that matched nobody.
Platform strategy
Audit first, fix root causes second, scale infrastructure last. Alpha Expansion started with an external and authenticated review of the live app, then got repository access and audited the code, migrations and edge functions directly. Every symptom was traced to its source instead of patched in the UI: dates were derived consistently, duplicate income was fixed at the sync layer, and the performance problem was measured before anyone touched the database plan. It turned out to be self-inflicted cron load, not user traffic. Only after the backend was stable did the work move to the public website.

How the platform works
The user's path
A visitor lands on cashfish.io, picks a plan and pays through Stripe, then claims the account. Inside the app, connected inboxes and tools send invoices, receipts and deals into the inbox. AI proposes the extracted fields, the user approves, and approved records flow into receivables, payables, cash-flow forecasts and the CRM. The dashboard keeps the essentials visible: quick actions, connection health, trends and the cash health score.
Admin and operations
Owners manage workspaces, invite team members and control what members can do, including document approval rights. Plan limits are enforced server-side. A connections page shows each integration's sync status, and internal jobs handle reminders, webhook retries and housekeeping. Part of the audit rightsized 15 always-on scheduled jobs that were firing about 4,700 times a day, cutting database load by roughly 77% and restoring normal sign-in times.
Integrations and automation
Email: Gmail, Outlook and IMAP. Business tools: HubSpot, Zoho, Calendly, Salesforce, Pipedrive, Shopify (private beta), WooCommerce, Stripe, PayPal, Square and Wise. Storage: Google Drive, Dropbox and OneDrive. Accounting data can be imported one-way from QuickBooks and Xero. Automation covers document extraction, deduplication, reminders and webhook delivery, all running as Supabase edge functions.
How it should look and feel

The app is a dark, data-dense dashboard with a clear approval loop at its centre. The marketing site follows the CashFish brand: near-black green surfaces, a neon-green signature colour, Poppins type, glass panels and real product screenshots inside device frames rather than illustrations. Every claim on the site was checked against the product brief before it went live.

What this platform changes
- Verified tenant isolation
- A duplicate-income root cause fixed
- Cron load cut by roughly 77%
- Consistent overdue logic
- A published marketing site on cashfish.io
Shipped to production: a security-audit fix set merged and deployed, a row-level-security bug fixed, the duplicate-income root cause fixed, consistent overdue derivation across views, empty-state calls to action on eleven screens, and the cron rightsizing that removed most of the database load. The new marketing site was published and cashfish.io was switched to it, with full pricing, legal pages and a responsive audit completed before ad campaigns. We do not publish CashFish's private revenue or customer numbers.
